Commonwealth Government National Sports Plan

The Commonwealth Sports Minister, the Hon Greg Hunt MP, has announced a public consultation process to develop a new Commonwealth Government National Sports Plan.

Minister Hunt advised that the Plan will be a long-term strategy for the whole of sport and will examine four key pillars of participation, performance, prevention through physical activity, and integrity.

A national lottery, to be developed with the states, and activity to boost participation are amongst options being considered.

Consultation will also engage on major sporting events, sports infrastructure, sport governance and funding.

The NSW Office of Sport encourages all stakeholders, especially SSO’s and SDSO’s recognised and funded by the NSW Office of Sport but also all NSW sporting organisations, to be involved in the consultation process for the new Sports Plan.
