2019 Golden Mallet Award

Over 80 members of the CNSW community had wonderful celebration of Croquet yesterday. The finale of the annual awards lunch was the presentation of the Golden Mallet Award. There were 15 nominations from all CNSW Regions for this new award which recognising their outstanding contributions to Croquet.

Congratulations to Peter Freer from Canberra Croquet Club, a very worthy recipient of this inaugural award.

Peter has made enormous contribution to the sport of croquet, and all its various disciplines over 30 years of playing, managing events, refereeing, coaching and mentoring. His various roles at Canberra Croquet Club has overseen the growth of a healthy active and competitive club. Peter has been a NSW state team rep in GC for 8 consecutive years, represented Australia in GC at 3 World & several Over 50 Championships. An active and enthusiastic referee and tournament manager, Peter has encouraged, supported and participated in a wide range of competitions to increase the running of fair inclusive and well managed events around NSW, ACT and more broadly around Australia.

In his role as Events Manager for Croquet Australia he has been a consistent, well organised presence ensuring the national events have run smoothly.
