CNSW welcomes Cessnock Croquet Club

CNSW welcomes our newest member Cessnock Croquet Club. This club was formed two months ago after a public meeting gained sufficient support to continue with the idea of forming a croquet club.

They obtained an old bowling green and clubhouse on Hunter Health land at Calvary Nursing Home. The disused bowling green had not seen action in twenty years and so was in need of some love and kindness.

The Club began playing on Friday mornings and has grown to over twenty players attempting to learn the game. If enthusiasm makes a club and makes good croquet players then Cessnock Croquet Club is bound to succeed and produce excellent players.

After visiting them one can only be inspired by their endeavours. Cessnock CC became an affiliated member of CNSW last week and CNSW wishes them well in their journey to better lawns and improved facilities.

Club details...

The longish and in places tufty grass provides a challenge to players.
Luckily a member of the club has lots of green keeping experience
and an improvement in this area is expected as the warmer weather arrives.

How great to start off with a ready to use club-house.
A few minor repairs are underway and plans for some paint to be splashed around are well in hand.

President of CNSW welcomes Cessnock CC, who presents the president with relevant documents.

Some of the players (and a visitor in the form of Bev Smith, State GC Referee Coordinator) applaud the presentation.

Decisions decisions! A familiar picture which will become even more familiar to these new players.
