The CNSW Handbook Part C Regulations for Tournaments Clause 52.8 has been amended FROM:
Players engaged in CNSW events should be neatly and tidily dressed in approved sporting clothing appropriate to the game of croquet and the prevailing conditions. Flat soled enclosed footwear should be worn. Approved sports attire may include trackpants/tops, collared sports shirts, shorts of various lengths or trousers in club, state or national colours.
TO:
Players are to wear neat and appropriate sporting attire and flat-soled shoes ie shoes, the soles of which do not mark the court. Players choosing to wear sandals shall, as all players should, be conscious of surrounding play in order to ensure their own safety. A player presenting at the venue in unsuitable attire will be made aware of this requirement and warned that if s/he appears on any subsequent days in unsuitable attire s/he will be excluded from further participation. Where there is doubt about whether attire is 'suitable' or 'unsuitable', a liberal rather than a narrow interpretation of 'neat and appropriate sporting attire' should be applied.

In this year's Eire Cup, NSW has come a close second to arch nemesis and defending champions, Victoria, in a close fought battle. Victoria were undefeated, beating NSW 11 games to 9 on day four at Windsor Club in Brisbane. Full results at www.croquetscores.com

Scrutiny of each day's play will show that, on certain days, many games went to time rather than being pegged out. This is mostly because those games were played on the exceptional lawns at Wynnum - fast lawns with tight hoops set very rigid in firm ground. Good approaches were challenging - especially in even slight breezes - and poor hoop approaches/shots were punished with startling rejection. Excellent, testing conditions for interstate standard.

It was a great five days of competition and we came agonizingly close to winning the Eire Cup back. Already practising for next year! Alix.
